Yes, these are actual questions we’ve been asked frequently. Don’t see your answer? Just ask!
Our 5 day camp week will run Monday through Friday at the following times.
Day Camp 2.0: 8:30am-3:00pm
Camp 2.1: 3:00pm-5:00pm
Camp 2.2: 5:00pm-5:30pm
First Day of Camp: Monday, June 28, 2021
Last Day of Camp: Friday, August 20, 2021
Now! Registration is OPEN for Summer Camp 2.0!
We’d love to welcome your family at Island Roots, but will need to wait until your child is at least entering Kindergarten (K) before registering them for camp. We ask that family’s enroll children entering K who are ready for an active and full-day camp program, and understand that Day Camp 2.0 may be best suited to children entering first (1st) through seventh (7th) grades for this reason. Please check out our family events for more ways to get involved with Island Roots Camp Group in the meantime.
We're definitely open to being flexible when possible. In the case of our camp schedule, our program doesn't really lend itself to a partial camp day option. From time to time, campers need to be dismissed early for various reasons (family preference, other plans, appts, etc.) and these are certainly allowed! However, we have learned during our years of working in the field that camp culture, group dynamics, and campers' experiences are best when campers can fully participate in the camp day.
We understand that a long camp day doesn't work well for all campers - and would hate for a child to attend when not ready and then feel like they don't like camp, when actually they just weren't ready, yet. You certainly know your child best! If you don't think they're ready for a full day camp, then we love that our community has a variety of different options that might be a better fit this summer!
If you're not sure about the full camp day, we encourage you to attend one of our family events (night hike or others TBD) to get to know us and also see how your child does during a shorter program (might help you decide about summertime!).
Even if this year doesn't seem like the best summer for a full day program, please consider Island Roots for after school programming next year, family events, and/or summer camp down the road!
Day Camp with Island Roots is located at 40 Tioga Way, in Marblehead, Massachusetts. And outside! Campers from all communities are welcome!
Our $15 registration fee covers a portion of our administrative costs associated with Day Camp and is only refundable if we receive written notification that you've decided not to enroll within 3 days of paying this registration fee.
*Our $25/week deposit (due within 7 days of registration), will be deducted from your camp fees, when opting for monthly payments. Deposits are only refundable if you withdraw from camp before June 1st. Those who pay deposits/fees can opt for a 100% refund or 100% credit toward other Island Roots programs if one chooses to withdraw within three days of fee processing or Day Camp with Island Roots is unable to operate for some unforeseen reason.

We currently offer a 5% sibling discount for siblings who enroll at the same time for the same program (i.e. Day Camp 2.0). As much as we’d love to offer scholarships, as a new business we are not yet able to do so.
Because we understand that not everyone can pay up front for a full summer program, we do offer a monthly payment plan that spreads your Day Camp 2.0 fees out across the summer months of June, July, and August.
Although it is the first summer that Island Roots has a camp, our goal is to change the way our community thinks about youth programming! We believe that summer camp should be fun and community-oriented, focused on engaging campers through active programming that guides and supports their stewardship of self, community, and environment! Also, it sounds a bit silly… and camp gets pretty silly!
